Institute of Education & Research

The institute of Education & Research was established in 1974 as Department of Education. It was given the status of institute in 1976.

The institute at present provides facilities to train candidates for the B.Ed and M.Ed degrees. The M.Ed program was initiated to provide facilities for advanced degree in teacher education. The program was instituted from the academic session 1975-76. This program enables trained teachers, educational administrators, researchers and others who already possess B.Ed degree or equivalent to undergo further professional training and qualify for M.Ed degree. The program of studies and training extends over one academic year.

The Institute has revised all the courses of M.Ed & B.Ed in light of changes that have taken place in the society and according to the Higher Education Commission directives. The Institute has started M.Phil & PhD (Education) classes from the academic session 2001-2002.

Eligibility Criteria:

• For B.Ed

Science Group:

Science Group 1.  B.Sc with Physics + Maths A or Maths B + any other subject

Science Group 2.  B.Sc with Chemistry + Botany or Zoology +other subject.

Science Group 3.  B.Sc with combination other than those in (1) & (2) above.

Arts Group:

Arts Group 1.  English +any two subjects other than those in list A.

Arts Group 2.  English +any one subject from list A  + one other than list A.

Arts Group 3.  English +any two subjects from list A.

(List A):  Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Pashto, Islamic Studies.

OR    B.COM/ B.B.A/ B.C.S  At least 2^nd division

2.    No age limit.

• For M.Ed

        I.  BA/B.Sc/B.B.A/B.COM/B.C.S  with B.Ed , At least 2^nd division in aggregate

2. No age limit (Merit to be determined according to marks in B.Ed).
